I’m listening to a great teleconference right now from airbnb and one of the hosts just said something that resonated with me. For him, it works for hospitality, but I think it also translates perfectly to what we should be doing at church…
“You all can get together and help each other be amazing.”
With that said, let me take a minute and talk about how our folks are being pretty amazing.
We just finished the second shoebox packing party for Operation Christmas Child. We collected toys and goodies all year long and were able to fill 24 shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, and candy for kids all over the world.
In addition to the shoebox packing party, we also heard from Chaplain John Edwards and Vanessa Nelson from HospiceCare about unique opportunities for us to serve the hospice community. There’s a really neat summer camp for kids coming up that I’ll give you more information on soon.
The last amazing thing I’d like to tell you about is an opportunity that came to me this week involving comic books. I rec’d the following e-mail early in the week.
I made some calls to verify that it was true and actually spoke to a nurse at the facility mentioned. She apparently gets a lot of calls from comic book stores that Larry e-mails, but few comics get sent his way. I pulled some comics from my collection and mailed them out to Larry this week.
The lesson in this that you need to be open to opportunities that God places in your path. Follow those paths and be amazing!
