Big changes are afoot! I sent this e-mail out to our membership earlier…
Kapow Church is Winding Down
I wanted to reach out to our church community with this request. As you know, we’ll be moving very soon, likely within about a month. This is a faith move for our family. One we feel led to, but certainly not one where everything is perfect by any means. Please pray for us.
Our big prayer right now is that God will prepare a place for us there where we can start a new church effort and also a place to live.
We’ll be making a recon trip in the next couple of weeks to look for a place. Aside from potential rentals and cheap beat up foreclosures that we’ve found online, I actually found a former Jewish synagogue with a parsonage that’s for sale. It would be awesome if we were able to take that over.
As the life of Kapow Church-Myrtle Beach winds down, I’ll keep everyone in the loop, but I just wanted to ask for your prayers right now. It’s a scary thing moving a family this big with little in the way of security or finances. But, then again, if it wasn’t scary then faith wouldn’t be such a big thing.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to reach out to all of you. I’m praying very specifically for a place that God has for us. I would love your prayers in this as well.

Thought I’d post one of our weekly updates. It’s been a while, but we have a lot of new things going on.
First off, from my ‘Digging a Hole’ title, we’re building a community garden. There’s a lot of work to do, but we’re moving along nicely. In space behind the building where we meet there’s a grass lot that’s used for storage and parking. We got permission from the building’s owner to turn most of the grassy area into a community garden that we’re calling the Pilgrimage Promise Garden.
Here’s the lot…
Here’s our plan so far…
One of our folks is already planning to take the next Master Gardener course. You can find it HERE if you’d like to check out the course that’s offered by the Clemson University Agricultural Extension.
If you’d like to help out with our wish list of donations, here’s what we need:
- 16 pcs treated 2x12x8′ lumber
- 12 pcs treated 2x6x10′ lumber
- 1 pcs treated 2x12x12′ lumber
- 350 cu ft topsoil
- 3 rolls of black landscaping fabric
- 2 spade shovels
- 2 hoes
- 2 hard rakes
- Wheel barrow
We’ve been meeting on Wednesday nights at our local Starbucks coffeehouse, but have kind of outgrown the location. So, this week we’re moving a block down and holding our study at the Denny’s. Still at 7pm. Come and join us and even have supper with us while you’re there. We’re still working our way through The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Bible. Drop in and join us!
We played Stand Up by The Flobots last Sunday. It’s a good revolutionary type song, and there are a lot of rumors out there that most of the bandmembers are Christians. Here’s the LINK to the song.
We also played the farmer commercial that was shown during the Super Bowl. It’s an excellent commercial, my favorite of the entire Super Bowl. Here’s the LINK.
We’ll be starting a financial series this week that will incorporate many of Dave Ramsey’s teachings and a workbook called Four Week Financial Turnaround by Derek Olsen. I have the workbooks already and they are $10 each if you’d like one or you can get a digital copy of it HERE if you want to go that route. Come join us for the financial series. I promise it’ll be fun!
Our congregation is getting really excited about the future of our small group at The Pilgrimage. This video is me and Ryan Smith, one of our founding peeps, checking out a potential new dream spot for our church. It’s in Murrells Inlet SC and is a former seafood buffet.
